WCC Conversation on Feminist Masculinity

The WCC invites men from the Classics community to participate in a discussion on the topic of “Feminist Masculinity” as part of the “WCC at 50” anniversary-year exploration of what feminism looks like today.

This event will feature a discussion on feminism as practiced by men, towards a definition of “feminist masculinity.” The event will offer an opportunity for registrants to reflect on what feminism means to them and the ways in which they can engage with feminist ideals in their everyday lives from the male experience and perspective.

We hope to give a space for open conversation, discuss tricky issues or encounters, and share practical advice and policies that can help empower male colleagues of all ranks and stages to more actively support historically marginalized communities within our field, including women, ethnic minorities, first generation, and non-binary people in the field.

Our goal is to compile a list of takeaways and practical advice, which we will send to participants after the event and eventually post on the WCC website.

Discussion Facilitators:

In advance of this event, we are inviting ALL members of the Classics community to submit ideas, anecdotes, issues, and questions that participants may address and share.
