March Reading Group, for Women’s History Month: bell hooks, Feminism is for Everybody

What is feminism? What does it mean to be a feminist and support feminist practices?

These are fundamental questions that the WCC grapples with in trying to fulfill its mission. To kick off the WCC Reading Groups for our 50th anniversary year, we want to get back to basics to better understand the definitions and applications of the founding concept of our organization. We invite you to join us on this journey.

For the March reading group, therefore, as we celebrate our 50th and also Women's History Month, we will honor the memory and legacy of bell hooks by reading Feminism is for Everybody.

In this short primer, bell hooks introduces a popular theory of feminism rooted in common sense and the wisdom of experience. Hers is a vision of a beloved community that appeals to all those committed to equality, mutual respect, and justice. We invite all participants to explore her innovative vision of feminist futures.

This book is 140 pages in print and 4.5 hrs in audiobook format. It is often available in university libraries and for sale in local/online bookstores.

N.B. Only registrants will be allowed to attend this event. Please register with the same name you plan to use on the zoom.
